July MeetingWho’s Speaking?Please join us on Thursday, July 3, 2008 for the monthly professional education meeting at Woodhaven Country Club from 11:30 - 1:30. The FWAPA guest speakers will be Michael Day and Jeff Kikel with Fidelity Investments. The topic is “401k Regulations”. Michael Day is a Vice President for Fidelity Retirement Services Company. Michael is responsible for the development of prospective new 401k & Payroll clients for Fidelity’s Small Corporate Market. He works closely with the Texas Retail Investor Centers to increase awareness of Small Corporate Market products. Michael has over 8 years experience with Fidelity working with employers to create solutions for their employee benefit programs. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Marketing from Texas State and his MBA in Financial Services from the University of Dallas. He also has NASD Series 7 and 63 licenses Jeff Kikel is a Regional Consultant with Fidelity Investments working out of the Las Colinas (Irving) and Southlake Investor Centers. A 14 year Fidelity veteran, Jeff has spent most of his career with Fidelity as a Financial Planner. Jeff is currently responsible for educating Fidelity clients as well as members of the community in topics such as: Retirement, Investing, and Financial Planning. Jeff also consults with businesses to identify appropriate retirement plans for their employees. Jeff is a graduate of the University of North Carolina with a degree in Psychology and is also a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). Jeff holds Series 6, 7, 8, 63 and 66 licenses as well as a Group 1 (Life, Health) insurance license.

Member SpotlightKim Markle, CPP Kim Markle, CPP serves as Vice President of the Fort Worth APA Chapter. She was born in Little Washington, PA and says she was a military brat; traveling everywhere from Kentucky to Munich Germany; El Paso to Stuttgart Germany and back again to El Paso. Kim graduated from Andress High School in El Paso TX. Her dad retired in El Paso when she was in the 9th grade.
Kim has two wonderful children and one grandchild!! Her
son Bryan, lives with her and works for Albertson’s as a meat cutter.
Tara, her daughter, works at Omni American Bank as the Mortgage Receptionist.
Her grand daughter Kira, 15 months old is the apple of her grandmother’s

Government UpdateFederal Minimum Wage to go to $6.55 per hour on July 24, 2008. This is the second increase in the federal minimum wage that was signed into law in 2007 The increase was tacked on to an unrelated ‘war supplement’ appropriations bill approved by the U.S. House and Senate by large margins. The Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007 increases the federal hourly minimum wage rate to:
